So what’s all the hype about prenatal yoga in Charlotte? Is it something that you should look into? I was never big into yoga pre-pregnancy, but the lure of a calming exercise that helps your mind and body while thinking about labor makes it seem like it could be a really good choice for mommas-to-be.

What are the benefits to CHarlotte Prenatal yoga classes?

Prenatal yoga can provide a lot of benefits during your pregnancy and also during your labor. I’ll list a few of the benefits that I found to prenatal yoga, and you can find additional information and resources about it here as well.

  • It can improve your sleep. (I don’t know about you, but I struggled once that belly got big to find comfortable positions!)

  • It can reduce stress and anxiety. (I’ve always looked at yoga a being calming of the mind and spirit, and that definitely can’t hurt to learn for labor!)

  • It can increase your strength and flexibility, which can aid in labor.

  • And it can decrease lower back pain, as well as nausea.

What should I expect from a CHarlotte Prenatal Yoga cLass?

You should definitely expect to sit butterfly style and say “ohm”. Nope, I’m totally just kidding about that. Prenatal classes often focus on breathing, stretching, postures and some sort of relaxation at the end of the session. You will be taught deeper breathing exercises that should be helpful during labor, and also work on stretching and strengthening your abdominal muscles. Most classes will offer appropriate blocks and accessories to make sure that your belly and baby are safely in positions that are good for the both of you!
