7 Things to Consider for your Charlotte Maternity Photography Session
Whether you are a first time mom or a third or fourth time mom, your pregnancy is something to celebrate! Why not document this special time in your life with a Charlotte maternity photography session? Here are 7 must haves for your photo session!!
THE dress. You want to feel amazing during your session, so you definitely need a dress that makes you feel gorgeous and accentuates that belly bump! Do you love tight knit dresses that hug all your curves? Or do you prefer the loose flowy ones that make you feel like a princess? Whatever your style, find the perfect dress! I offer a client closet of gowns and fabrics, so you don’t have to go out and purchase anything. You can choose a style that works for you! You can view some of the gowns I offer here.
The location. Think about the feel of your Charlotte maternity photography session. Do you love those dreamy romantic outdoor photos or do you prefer the classic studio backdrops? What would match better with your home, if you’re thinking about displaying your photos? I offer both outdoor and indoor sessions, so there are a TON of options and I’m sure we can find the spot that speaks to you!
Hair and make up. Photos can wash you out, but a talented hair and make up artist can make you photo session ready! All maternity sessions with me include hair and make up services, but you have to think about the look that you want! Do you want a dramatic high contrast look for those studio photos? Or do you want something softer and more glam for outdoor photos, or lifestyle maternity photos?
YouR Charlotte maternity photography session should be stress free.
6. Shoes. Most people forget about shoes. If you are going outdoors, you may be fine with a pair of flip flops just for walking around. Chances are your feet won’t really be seen! If you want those indoor glam maternity shots, think about bringing a pair of heels that you love. This gives your leg some definition and will make you feel like a hot momma!
7. Who and what do they wear? Who do you want in your photo session? Do you want it to be mostly about you and capturing your belly? Or do you have another little one and want the session to be more about capturing those family shots? If it’s your first, how much does your significant other want to be included? I would always recommend family shots at every session, but we can definitely concentrate on whatever is most important to you. As for outfits… your significant other should wear something neutral that will compliment the outfits or gowns that you are wearing. Your kiddos should do the same— if you have a little girl that wants to feel like a princess too… I do have dresses at the studio that might fit her and make her feel just as special as mom!
Your Charlotte maternity photography session should be fun and stress free for you. At my studio, snacks are provided, hair and make up is provided, and you have access to a client closet of dresses and fabrics. I try to make this process as easy and fun as possible for you! I would love to schedule a maternity session with you. Feel free to contact me to chat about scheduling your session!
Have a fabulous rest of your pregnancy! <3

Your Charlotte Maternity Session should make you feel beautiful.
4. Undergarments. This sounds un-important, but it’s something I always remind my clients to think about. A lot of dresses are sheer and you may want nude or skin colored underwear so we can’t see your purple polka dotted underwear in photos! A strapless bra is always a good idea as well. If you absolutely don’t have one that fits, we can always tuck your bra straps though, or you can go braless too. ;) Bring a black bra and underwear set is always a good idea too, especially if you want to do some darker dramatic photos semi-nude.
5. When to schedule. Every photographer will have a different recommendation for this. I typically recommend 31-37 weeks, but that is a loose recommendation. I personally loved to let my belly get as big as possible for I did any maternity photos. BUT the closer you get to the end of your pregnancy, the higher the risk that you may deliver early and miss your chance to do a session. SO it’s completely up to you as to when you feel most comfortable scheduling your session! I would definitely wait until 3rd trimester though, especially if it’s your first.
