To Thrift {or Consign} or Not… that is the Question! | Kid to Kid Charlotte
The excitement of having a new baby is CONTAGIOUS! Everyone around you will be excited and I’m positive you will be showered with many, MANY gift items and clothing for your baby. And if you’re anything like I was (especially with my first) you may just be showered with so many outfits, your baby won’t have time to wear them all! Should you consign them to Kid to Kid Charlotte if you have extras? What are the benefits of consigning and potentially buying from a thrift shop? Keep reading to find out!
The Benefits of Consigning… Kid to Kid Charlotte
Help reduce clothing pollution! According to Kid to Kid’s website, consigning or buying from them, you reduce the carbon footprint of clothing by 60-70%. This reduces the demand for new clothing and by clothes being used for even an additional 9 months, can reduce waste impact by 20-30%. All that to say, you can feel extra good about yourself for supporting a cleaner environment! :)
$ $ $. Consigning clothing can put money in your pocket so maybe you can buy additional clothing in the size your little one needs. And bonus points, but you’ll already be in a store that sells tons of clothing that’s both new and used!
Ease. It’s so much easier to take all your clothing and baby items to one store, rather than try to photograph, post and sell them on Facebook marketplace.
If your items don’t sell, Kid to Kid Charlotte will donate clothing to different charities who are in need. So you can feel good about donating to a great cause regardless!
Thrifting at Kid to Kid CHarlotte, What are other mom’s saying!?
While your kids are still tiny babies, they are honestly pretty easy on their clothes for the most part! (Unless you have one of those habitual spitters!) Of course you may lose some clothing to some blow out diapers… but babies aren’t running around skinning their knees just yet. So their clothing is usually in great condition!
Here are a few things Moms LOVE about shopping at Kid to Kid Charlotte!
“Good place to sell your little one’s bassinets, strollers, clothing, etc for instant cash or to make a donation. Their prices tend to be less than half of what a brand new model of the same product costs. So if you need that momaroo but can’t muster $400 you can pick one up for under 200 here which is amazing! As for selling I’d give it 4 stars as they give you 30% of their intended sales price which again is around 40-50% of what you paid for it brand new. This leaves you with roughly a 1/4 return on investment, but it’s for a good cause and helps the community.”
“Best place to buy kids clothes – they have all styles and themes. Bring some clothes to sell too because they make it so easy to offload your gently used kids clothes. Much easier than trying to fight the Facebook algorithm and do porch pick ups all over the city lol.The Managerial staff is great! They always remember me and make me feel welcome. I really enjoy shopping here – you never know what diamond in the rough you might find :-)”
“This was my first time coming into this store! It looked small from the outside, but once I got in I was amazed at how neatly organized the clothes, shoes, bathing suits, even raincoats were hung. It made it easy to find what I was looking for. My only thing I noticed that wasn't easy to shop was the toys section. There are tons of toys, but you have to dig to find some. I didn't have that chance today, but maybe next visit.”
