Fun to BEE One: An adorable Cake Smash theme
There's something undeniably magical about a child's first birthday. It's a milestone that not only marks a year of growth and exploration but also a year of unforgettable memories for you as parents. And what better way to celebrate than with a cake smash session?
The Set-Up: Fun to BEE one!
For this particular cake smash, I created a neutral set with the honey comb shapes that momma loved! The color palette evolved as I gathered cute supplies and decorations at my local craft store. We went with golden yellows, greens, whites and blacks for the whole set. The backdrop was decorated with the honey comb shapes, greenery, fairy lights and the most adorable bumblebee garlands! The cake itself was a masterpiece: and it should be, since momma is the studios cake baker!! She brought an adorable bumblebee honeycomb cake that matched the set up perfectly!
The Messy Magic of Cake Smashing
What followed was pure, unfiltered joy. The session was a whirlwind of giggles, frosting-covered faces, and playful messes. The birthday boy wasn’t quite so sure at first, but he did warm up with his honeycomb tool. The sweet mess was a beautiful chaos, with frosting splattered across his cheeks, her outfit, and the backdrop— can you see the little handprints he left!?
Parents often worry about the mess, but it’s important to EMBRACE THE MESS! (And also, don’t wear your best clothes, because you’ll probably be getting frosting hugs and kisses, which means little fingerprints of frosting on your outfit!) This is a time for your little one to be a little crazy- cake throwing, frosting smooshing, painting with frosting, and beating the cake like a drum asre highly encouraged. And if you’re little one is not a fan… no worries. We can hide snacks behind the cake and still get some really cute shots.
Wrapping Up: Its fun to BEE one!
While the session was undoubtedly a blast, capturing these precious moments was the true highlight. As cliche as it sounds… your baby is only one ONCE. You will not believe how fast time truly flies and if you don’t capture the memories now…. you won’t have them to fondly look back on as your child is off to their first day of preschool, or first day of kindergarten. Those chubby cheeks and the tiny little baby hands go away, unfortunately. Why not capture them forever with photos to document this important milestone! I would love to chat with you to plan the perfect session for your little one!!
